Established in 2023, the AIR offers time and space amidst the extraordinary natural beauty of the Morongo Valley in the private residence and studios of artists Peter Alexander and Claudia Parducci.
The AIR offers space designed to accommodate a broad range of artistic activities for two artists at a time. Upon the completion of the residency, Morongo AIR will organize a celebration and presentation at the Estate of Peter Alexander / Studio of Claudia Parducci, in Santa Monica.

How do I get to the property?
By car, which is required for the residency. The property is about a 20 minute drive from Palm Springs (the nearest airport is Palm Springs International Airport), via Interstate 10 to State Route 62 in San Bernardino County. Morongo Valley is 10 miles west of Yucca Valley, along the western edge of the Mojave Desert, and near the northern edge of the Coachella Valley. The access road is very uneven dirt and gravel, requiring slow driving. You will be given detailed directions upon acceptance to the residency.

Who is eligible?
AIR applications are accepted for tandem art workers in the mid or established part of their career, making work in all media, including drawing, painting, photography, film, video, installation, fiction and non fiction writing, interdisciplinary, social practice and architecture.
What do you mean by tandem art workers?
The residency is intended for two artists (couples, collaborators, friends, or new/old acquaintances) to share the AIR. For example, a writer working on a second book and a painter exploring a new series. The projects and practices do not need to be related.
Can I bring my partner, family, and or pet?
Artist couples are encouraged to apply as a tandem for the AIR.

How long is the residency?
Times vary but are typically 2-6 weeks. You will indicate your preferred time on your application.
What is the artistic output expectation?
There is no requirement for finished work at the conclusion of the residency. However, there is an opportunity to celebrate and present work (whether finished or not) in the weeks following the residency.
What is the presentation at the end of the AIR?
A one day or evening celebration and presentation will be held at The Estate of Peter Alexander and Studio of Claudia Parducci, located in a xx sq foot warehouse in Santa Monica.
Are there any fees?
There is no application fee and if awarded the residency, no fee for your stay. There is a small security deposit required to cover any accidental damage to the property, which will be returned with in one week of the end of the residency if there is no damage. The property has free general amenities (toiletries, pantry items, books, etc). The residents are responsible for their own transportation, food, work supplies, etc.
How do I apply?
There is no deadline for applications. We request you email studio@peteralexander.com with the following:
One page letter describing you studio practice, work, and professional art experience. Include how you plan to utilize your possible time at Morongo AIR and why the time and space is needed. State your desired dates and length of stay.
A short bio (200 word max), artist’s statement (200 word max), and CV or resumé. (as attachments or in body of the email)
Links to your website and social feeds, if available.
Two references: name, email, phone number, and the length and nature of your relationship.
